Beyoncé - Best Thing I Never Had

Song Info:

"Best Thing I Never Had" is a song by American singer Beyoncé Knowles taken from her fourth studio album, 4 (2011). It was released by Columbia Records on June 1, 2011, as the second single from the album. "Best Thing I Never Had" was composed by Patrick "J. Que" Smith, Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds, Symbolyc One, Caleb McCambell, Atonio Dixon, Knowles and Shea Taylor. Recording and production of the song took place at MSR Studio as well as KMA Studio in New York City. As stated by Smith, "Best Thing I Never Had", which was originally not a ballad, was inspired by the drums of Doug E. Fresh's song "The Show".

An R&B-pop song, "Best Thing I Never Had" has lyrics about revenge and karma. Not wanting to end up broken-hearted, the female protagonist relates that she feels happy to have parted from her love interest who did not recognize the potential of leading a happy life beside her. Critical reception towards "Best Thing I Never Had" has been generally positive; several music critics noted that its theme and style bear resemblance to Knowles' 2006 single, "Irreplaceable". Knowles' vocals and the lyrical content of the song were also complimented. However, the inclusion of lines, including "showed your ass", were criticized.

Music Video Info:

The music video for "Best Thing I Never Had" was directed by Diane Martel, and was shot in Westchester County on June 15, 2011 and in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, on June 16, 2011. On June 20, 2011, it was revealed that Knowles would not be the one playing the prom queen in the music video. Knowles said that "not being prom queen in the video reminded her of how she never wore the coveted tiara at her own high school dance." However, she added that it was indeed "weird" not to have her real father, Mathew Knowles, walk her down the aisle in the wedding scene, which was shot in a Sleepy Hollow country club on June 15, 2011, because she was escorted down the aisle by her father when she wed Jay-Z in April 2008.[81] On July 20, 2011, Knowles sat for an interview with Access Hollywood, where she spoke of the set of her video for "Best Thing I Never Had"

Alesha Dixon - Radio

Song Info:

"Radio" is a song by English recording artist Alesha Dixon from her third album, The Entertainer. The song is The Entertainer's second single, after "Drummer Boy" and was released on 28 November, coinciding with the album's release. One of the remixes features rapper Wiley, a member of grime band Roll Deep, whom Dixon collaborated with previously whilst featuring on their single, "Take Control". Dixon performed "Radio" for the first time on Strictly Come Dancing on 14 November.

Music Video Info:

The music video for "Radio" was directed by Alex Herron near Los Angeles.[13] The video is set in an American trailer park. Whilst Dixon is in the video, she isn't the main focus. Instead, the video follows the lives of a feuding couple who live next door to Dixon. Their relationship disintergrates, and a fight erupts, causing a nearby elderly woman to dial 9-1-1. The police arrive, and arrest the man, believe domestic abuse has taken place, and the video ends with the police cars driving off, leaving the woman alone in tears. Throughout the video shots of Dixon singing are interspersed, with her either walking through the trailer park, in her caravan, or outside at night.

Female First stated they were "loving the video", and that Dixon "look[ed] fantastic in her little caravan".[10] However, they criticised the unrealistic set that the couple featured in, saying it as "the biggest trailer [they'd] ever seen" and "shame they couldn't fill it with furniture".

Information Society - What's On Your Mind

Song Info:

"What's on Your Mind (Pure Energy)" is a song by dance artists Information Society which was released as a single in 1988. The "Pure Energy" subtitle derives from a sample of Leonard Nimoy's voice from the Star Trek episode "Errand of Mercy".[1] There is also a sample of DeForest Kelley's voice from the episode "I, Mudd". John Leland of Spin magazine called it a "pretty potent dance record".[1]

In March and April 2009, VH1 ran a countdown of the 100 Greatest One Hit Wonders Of The 80s. Information Society's "What's on Your Mind (Pure Energy)" placed at #74 on the countdown despite the fact that the group had two other Top 40 hits: "Walking Away" (#9) and "Think" (#28).

The song achieved U.S. success when released in 1988, peaking at #3 on the pop charts in October, 1988.[2]

The song was featured in Loverboy and American Psycho.

David Copperfield is known to use this song in his shows

Duran Duran - The Wild Boys

Song Info:

"The Wild Boys" is the twelfth single by Duran Duran, released in October 1984.

The song was the only studio track on the live album Arena, and was produced by Nile Rodgers, who had previously remixed the single "The Reflex". It was recorded at the end of July 1984 at Maison Rouge studios in London.

"The Wild Boys" became one of the band's biggest hits, reaching #2 on the American Billboard Hot 100 and the UK Singles Chart, and hitting #1 on the German charts and the Canadian CHUM Chart. It became the band's biggest charting single in Australia, reaching #3.

Music Video Info:

The video for "The Wild Boys" was directed by Russell Mulcahy. The cost totalled over one million dollars, a staggering sum for music videos at the time, as his design filled one entire end of the "007 Stage" at Pinewood Studios with a metal pyramid and a windmill over a deep enclosed pool, and called for a lifelike robotic face, dozens of elaborate costumes, prosthetics, and makeup effects, and then-cutting-edge computer graphics. The choreography of dance routines was undertaken by Arlene Phillips, including intricate stunts and fire effects added to the cost. Mulcahy meant the video to be a teaser for his full-length Burroughs film, demonstrating his vision to the movie studios he was wooing, but that project was never made.
